On the 25th of October 2018, the students of Alia National School organized an event from 10 am to 12 noon, in order to raise awareness about breast cancer, raise money and collect donations and to set an example of teamwork and humanitarian work to inspire the younger students present in the school. This event was fully planned, prepared for and organized by the students of grade 11 with special support from Mr. Nicholas (English Language teacher). We had volunteers from classes 8-10. The students showed a sense of responsibility and teamwork among themselves, wonderfully got their job done while having lots of fun. The school supported its students with this idea and encouraged them to get everything done perfectly.
The event:
The event was wonderful, there were a huge variety of foods, games, music, posters, and banners! Not only had the students enjoyed the event, the teachers too had a blast. There was a bake sale with a huge variety of food, mostly pink! There were cupcakes, candy, popcorn, cookies, strawberries, and juices, anything you could think of! All foods were baked with love, and brought by students and sold, at the end of the event, they barely had one or two cookies left because of how delicious it all was.
In addition to the bake sale, games were organized, in order to be able to play a game, you’re supposed to buy tickets, lots and lots of tickets were sold as students challenged each other in different games. For the ones who were able to win a game, a reward was given. The games played a huge role in raising money.
Let’s come to the part which is the most exciting, music! A traditional band was brought to the students, the students gathered around them and happily danced. Afterward, all types of songs were played, music is the key to every event, and it gets the students excited and gets their attention.
Also, little bracelets with the word hope written on them were sold; in addition to that, think pink merchandise was sold to students as well. All proceeds from the games bake sale, and donations were all donated from Alia School to Think Pink Bahrain charity. This event benefited both the School and Charity.
