The largest sole donation to date by an NGO- all achieved over a period of six years via sponsorship, private donations and events. Initiated via feedback from patients and healthcare providers, the Charity’s Chair & Vice Chairperson set about doing their due diligence and research in terms of harms verses benefits, needs and access, age of diagnosis and a view of being a diagnostic tool and not a screening tool, for future high risk patients- as we were supporting at a grass roots level.  Once focused on the decision to proceed with a digital MRI 1.5T and agreement by the Charity Board, the then Chair of the MOH Donations Committee- Dr. Mariam Al Jalama was contacted and the Ministry of Health approved the donation under specific conditions and standards.

Tendering and retendering process, the digital MRI 1.5T was the most sophisticated and up-to- date MRI on the island when it was installed in June 2016. Located within the local government hospital, Salmanyia Medical Complex, this has meant the it is accessible to both nationals and expatriates. It plays a pivotal part of AMC Radiology and the SMC Breast Clinic- held on Mondays at SMC (appointments can be made via the Sehati App)
