#HowFarForPink
The idea behind the #DinarForDistance (D4D) campaign came about when the Founder was placed in hotel quarantine in Australia. The room shut, unopened for two weeks measured approximately 5 by 6 metres, with a window invariably closed as well. Armed with nothing but a fitness watch and the local music channel, the Founder, Prof. Julie Sprakel set about walking back and forth in the room once a day for 35 minutes. What happened over the two-week period was an astonishing accomplishment. She had covered a distance of over 42kms!! “This was the first time I was ever placed in this situation, and it was difficult on many levels. I felt I had to have a plan each day, set time aside, and talk myself through the process- for my mental health. Each session was surprisingly energising, both mentally and physically. An action-packed thirty to thirty-five minutes saw a total of 3kms each day. If this could be achievable in a hotel room, it could be achievable anywhere!” and hence the Think Pink campaign was born. This experience was enough to convince absolutely anybody that working-out does not have to be pricey nor extraordinary.
Like a quarantine, this challenge is your own. It could be any form of creative ideas to cover distance, movement is the key: swimming, cycling, running, jogging, rowing, walking, etc. It is your choice and your competition against yourself. This activation fits within Well Being, Community Engagement and CSR’s, but it is also a way of being mindful of our current situation: social distancing and adhering to the National Taskforce recommendations.

The first ever campaign where you set your own rules, overcome your own hardships, and realise a goal you pledged to accomplish.Testing yourself, getting yourself up and prepared to do your part for a healthier lifestyle. Whether it be everyday or every second, the challenge is your distance- “How far will you go for Think Pink?”. Supported by others and a strong will to go the farthest, the Dinar for Distance (D4D) challenge is a unique way to underpin the awareness of breast cancer in Bahrain. The donations always support Think Pink, but an overriding aim is physical movement and well-being above all. Being healthiest versions of ourselves supports the reductions of non-communicable diseases (NCD’s) such as breast cancer and avoids unnecessary risks.
