2016 Community Engagement Awards Announced By Charity

In an aim to continue spreading awareness and to raise the profile of breast cancer within the Kingdom, Bahrain Breast Cancer Society: Think Pink Bahrain would like to thank you for your support and commitment to the Charity during our 2016 campaign. In an aim to build an ongoing community service spirit in the Kingdom, the Charity established the Annual Community Engagement Award.  This award is the first of its kind, for which is both organised and regulated by the Charity itself. Established in 2012, the award honours the organisation that showed the best awareness initiative set forward by either Corporates or Schools, in accordance with the Bahrain Breast Cancer Society’s campaign rationale. The 2016 winners were selected based on stakeholder engagement and for promoting awareness, in addition for taking full ownership of the event at their premises. 

The 2016 Community Engagement Awards have been awarded to: The Four Seasons Hotel & Spa in the corporate category and Bahrain Polytechnic for the educational category. The trophy’s and photo opportunities took place this week, in the presence of representatives, senior officials from both the hotel and the college. The decision by the Board of the Charity was based on, the uniqueness of efforts and the understanding and drive of the campaign, inclusiveness to all stakeholders and patrons and the vision of spreading the local breast cancer awareness campaign of i-check.

Commenting on The Four Seasons Hotel & Spa award, Mrs. Tahera Al Alawi- Vice Chairwoman

Commented that “the hotels in house initiative took on a personal touch and include all aspects of awareness to your staff- both internal and external, in-house guests, dinners, patrons and stakeholders. We truly appreciative your support and hope that this partnership continues.  The initiative of the Chef’s Unite dinner was a truly creative way, not to broadcast the business and facilities of the Hotel, but Chef’s coming together from all over Bahrain for a cause. This was one of many things that were standouts on your premises during the month of October.”

 In reaction to the Bahrain Polytechnic Award, Mrs. Julie Sprakel – Chairwoman noted that “the multilayered approach towards community engagement took a personal touch and include all aspects of awareness to your students, staff, Board and its respective patrons and stakeholders. We are appreciative of your support each year in terms of the awareness. Being able to sign an Memorandum of Understanding, the first between an NGO and a tertiary educational institution, only endorses the forward thinking and collaborative ideals of Bahrain Polytechnic and its Executive Board”
